What we collect

• Email address — Used to send login links and prevent abuse. We don't send marketing emails.
• Demographics (optional) — Generation, religious affiliation, last party voted. All fields are optional.
• Ratings — Your importance and performance ratings on political concerns.

How we use it

Your data is used only for aggregate analysis. For example, we might show "Republicans rate border security performance higher than Democrats" — but we never identify or expose individual users.

Demographics help us understand how different groups perceive the same issues. This is the core insight of Polis: finding where we agree (importance) and where we disagree (performance).

What we don't do

• Sell your data to anyone
• Share individual data with third parties
• Show ads or track you across the web
• Send marketing emails
• Use your data for AI training

Your control

• Skip demographics — All demographic fields are optional. Skip them entirely if you prefer.
• Update anytime — Change your demographics in your profile whenever you want.
• Delete your account — You can delete your account and all associated data from your profile page.

Cookies

We use two cookies, both essential for the site to work:

• Session — Keeps you logged in
• CSRF token — Security protection for forms

No analytics. No tracking. No advertising cookies.

Technical details

• We use magic links for authentication — no passwords stored.
• Google OAuth is available as an alternative login method.
• Data is stored on Fly.io (US) with daily backups.
• HTTPS is enforced on all connections.
